FAQs
Hypnosis is a powerful state of focused attention resulting in an increased ability to accept suggestions and uncover and eliminate the root causes behind issues. Hypnosis is a naturally-occurring state of mind, but it can be difficult to access without practice or guidance from a clinical hypnotherapist. During a hypnotherapy session, hypnosis is induced through progressive relaxation and visualization techniques.
A clinical hypnotherapist is a mental health professional with extensive training and expertise in the clinical application of hypnosis in therapy. I am an ARCH Accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist, and a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Clinical Hypnotherapy, in addition to being an ACTA registered Counselling Therapist with a degree in Psychology and a decade of experience as a mental health professional.
Clinical hypnotherapy is an evidence-based, medically-backed therapy used as a psychological treatment to support changes in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours by working directly with the subconscious mind. (i.e. the part of your mind that notices and remembers behaviours when you are not actively trying to do so, and influences your behaviour even though you do not realize it.)
By accessing your subconscious mind and being guided by cues from your therapist, you are able to process the root causes of your issues, release negative thought patterns, and change unwanted behaviours. The benefits of this neural rewiring can last a lifetime. Working in the beautiful state of hypnosis doesn’t just facilitate healing, but does so without re-traumatizing the client.

Hypnotherapy is particularly effective at helping those who are struggling with stress, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression, PTSD, and insomnia (among other things). While I primarily work with women, I also work with men and individuals of all backgrounds who are open-minded and possess the ability to imagine, and believe in their own ability to change.
Hypnotherapy has been scientifically proven to be safe and effective through many large-scale studies, and is recognized by psychologists and psychiatrists as a legitimate form of treatment for PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, phobias and more. Yes. Online hypnotherapy is just as effective as in-person hypnotherapy sessions, and even offers additional benefits. While I can never guarantee results, the vast majority of my clients have experienced substantial, lasting change (see my Testimonials for examples of the results my clients have achieved). The number of sessions varies based on the client and their needs.
I create individualized treatment plans for each of my clients, which includes mapping out the number of sessions that will be needed to achieve their unique goals. Although clients usually see measurable results after the first one or two sessions, it often requires 4-8 hypnotherapy sessions to address the root cause of issues and create permanent change.
